I detail and take care of a LOT of vettes for my boss,,,,one of the 93 , 45 th anv. cars is giving me fits. It has the passive remote, the one with the single button on it.
The car is low miles, about 900 and has a good battery with new battery in remotes. BUT, it keep locking and unlocking the doors by itself.
we lay the remote inside the car and it locks, laying it ont he rear tires helps, but eventually it locks itself.
I have unhooked the battery to reset, but it didnt help.
the thing just honks, locks, honks, unlocks all by itself. No regualr pattern, we call it Christine.
any ideas whats wrong. where do i start to look for the cause.
car battery show 13.2 volts with a meter.

If its normal, how do you leave the car unlocked....????
remote has new battery, the car just keeps locking and unlocking itslef.
It's on a proximity sensor. Do a search. People have been cleaning the cars and have locked their keys on the inside. You have to rock the car to get it to "wake up" and it will unlock.
If you want to keep the car unlocked. Go through the programming sequence and turn it off.

That's normal. If you leave the keys with the remote laying on the console it will lock you out. The fob goes to sleep and the doors lock. Ask me how I know.
Just turn the passive part of the system off by holding down the door button on the remote while in range for at least 2 seconds. You will hear the door locks cycle and then the remote will only work manually. Meaning it will not try to lock itself, only by pushing the door button can you lock or unlock it.
