Default Lowering... Rear Spring Bolts...?

1996 LT4 Z51 Coupe

So my car was lowered before i bought it. the guy used a guldstrand lowering kit.

Question 1: are the standard lowering bolts 10"

I now plan to relower the rear farther, mainly so the passenger side will sit at the same height as the driver.

Question 2: What is the thread pattern...? so i may get some even longer grade 8 bolts from a hardware or specialty store...? 12" long or so

Thanks
-Kevin

The factory bolts are 14mm. The aftermarket ones might be too or they could be 9/16" which is very close to 14mm. I use 16mm bolts that are over 11" long and I assure you they are plenty long. I could drop the quarter panels onto the tires if I wanted to. VB&P offers 11" bolts I believe.

Default Vb&p

Go to VBP, Vette Brakes and Performance. I need to do the same thing. I have lowered the rear with the 10" bolts and will be putting in the 12" bolts soon. If I remember right, they are about $60-$70; which sounds high, but I feel its well worth it. BTW, you can request a free catalog, very cool stuff for brakes and handling, very cool

They Are $79.95 for the bolts only. plus S&H
I found a local place that sells 9/16 x 12" grade 8 Natural finish bolts for $6 each!(not $40 ea.)
Those should work... I would just need matching nylock nuts.. Right?

Try Lowe's or a good local hardware.

I suppose a regular locking nut would suffice. I just went to the Handyman Hardware store (there is a very good one nearby, luckily), but I think
I have seen them at Sears. Handyman Hardware is best for any special items I need. If they don't have it, they can usually get just about any nut or bolt you need.
