Has anyone punched a hole or drilled through their cats instead of replacing them?
I have heard in the past that some folk have pulled their pipes apart and used a large screw driver to remove any blockages.
I'm just curious what the process is on doing this. My cats need to be replaced and it cost big bucks. I want a way to drive it until I can get it replaced.
Thanks!

You can do that if you have to pass a visual. I don't, so I had the precats cut off and sleeved on my '89. The biggest gain is to replace the main cat with a hi-flow unit. It is a piece of ****. Keep your O2 sensors on or your milage will go in the crapper.
