If you're speaking of an aftermarket one such as the one from R-D Racing, it's not at all difficult. The front mounting holes should be there, even on a coupe and the rear ones are easy to locate, drill and install the nutserts in, if you follow their directions which are clear and precise. I don't think it took me long at all to do the initial installation, maybe an hour or so.

Do I correctly understand that you installed the R-D cross-frame, Chris? If so, what's your opinion of it now that you've had it in there for a while? I was checking it out on their website just today, thinking one of them might eventually end up on the LT4 I just bought from Bill...

TIA.

It makes it a whole different car from the standpoint of rigidity. Mine's off right now and I miss it. When it goes back on it will be welded solid in the middle plus a couple of other little changes. Just don't ask me how it affects the car with the top out because I don't remove my top. The last time it was out was to install the roll bar over a year ago.

I have the ST Frame, Camber, Targa Truss brace, and gas pedal and anything you buy from R D racing is top quality.
I was looking into the X Brace, but I was concerned of ground clearance as mine is lowered. Any loss on clearance?

Hey, my first post.
Powersmokin ,I purchased a new R-D crossframe for my 95 a year ago with plans to install following my 396 stroker engine build and install, but after track testing the car, it appears I am going to need a 5 point rollbar to be legal so this will satisfy my frame rigidity in lieu of the cross frame. Plus i am going to lower the car with coilovers making the crossframe a possible problem. So if you haven't bought one yet, I can make you a good deal on mine. PM me if interested. Oh, I will also be at the CC at Richmond on the 24th in case your going and would like to see the new crossframe. I could bring it. I will be listing it in the forum FS section next week.

Just want to mention. Dave told me that some 3" exhaust systems require a dent in the bars to prevenet rubbing. I don't have an x brace, so I don't know first hand. When ordering from R & D, ask the question.

I don't want to jump in front of Powersmokin, but if he doesn't get in touch about buying your crossframe, I'd be interested in talking with you about it.

Thanks for the reply, Chris. I'd be interested in hearing more about the additional changes you're contemplating for yours.

Thanks for the heads-up about this. Good to know...

Besides welding the center solid, boxing the the sides where they're not already boxed and modifying the two rear attaching brackets for additional clearance. This is the only place I ever scraped mine and I don't really understand why they made it the way they did back there. It's my only complaint on an otherwise excellent product. But no big deal while I'm welding on it anyway. IMO, there's no reason to not weld it into one piece once it's fitted to the car and has been used enough to take a "set." It's no more difficult to remove and reinstall in one piece. I simply ran a couple of #14 self-tapping screws into the bottom of the crossover area and then unbolted it from the car. Ready to weld solid.
