Default MAF screen

I herd that if you remove the screen in the MAF sensor you can improve air flow I also herd that this is a myth and you can actually disrupt airflow by removing this screen, I have a 86' and was wondering what the better option is

It does not hurt anything but you also won't feel a noticable difference in performance. Contrary to popular belief, the screens are there to help straighten the incoming air and not to keep debris out. That's what the air filter is for.

Though I have dont that "mod", there is no real benefit untill your engine is building close to 400chp.

I will suggest to leave the screens in.

also to make the air flow straighter so the MAF sensor will get a accurate reading

Your running a 383. Removing the screens will increase air flow. Are you running a stock intake?

I have done it both ways. If there is a benefit, it is miniscule. Currently, my screens are in and I will leave it that way. In TPIS' Insider's Hints, they measured a small increase in airflow with them removed.

The hard thing with FI is there are few, if any, easy big steps in making more HP

My .02 cents worth is that if you must remove a screen, removing the front one only would be best.

I like the Super Ram. There are other intakes out there. Also, you can port out your stock plenum and get ASM runners. It would look stock but increase performance. You should get a 52MM TB. Then you should look at the exhaust.
