I am considering putting a bullet muffler in place of my cat.
I was wondering if any one else has ran on of these before?
I tried to search it but found nothing on a C4.
I am having trouble getting the sound I want from my 87 convertible. I had some dynomax super turbo's on it, then a precat started rattleing to I put a new front Y pipe in with out precats and a new 3-n-1 converter by dynomax but I didn't like the sound so I put muffler eliminators on it and now it sounds funny so I think it might be the cat so that is why I am considering changing it out.
Any suggestions of another type of muffler would by nice, but I need something that will give me the clearence that the cat does.
I have already posted this short cut to a video of what my car sounds like, but only received one responce to it.

I had Bullets on my C6. I have Borlas on my C4 and they sound very similar. Muscle car sound. A little resonance at about 2000 RPM's with the roof on the coupe. Not annoying though. I really like the sound

If you are saying put a muffler where your main cat is, I don't think thats the answer. Sound is subjective, I don't know how to quantify "funny". Are you saying it is too loud or too quiet?

I think it sounds kindof like a six banger. It doesn't have that raspy deep, thunder sound that my other two vettes had, while running a cat and straight pipes.
I think the new front Y pipe may be smaller than the stock and that could be giving me my problems, I want it loud but I want the deep sound that the other cars had. I have passed T/A's that have muffler's on them that sound a whole lot better than my Vette, with out mufflers.
What did yall think of the sound clip I have another one, that I took of a cold start so the car stumbles just little. But I havn't driven the car in a week or more. But still it sounds like a Ford V10 with straight pipes or a honda kindof to me.

Here's my suggestion and it won't cost much. I think the problem is that 3 in 1 thing. If you want to keep a main cat get a hi-flo Magnaflow universal 3" in and out cat. I bought one for $65 on eBay. Get the one with the air tube and you will stay legal. When you put that on, put the Dyna Maxes back on. You need some backpressure IMO.

I don't know about that converter but that is a stock y-pipe 2 1/4".
Just curious did you put the O2 sensor back in the new y-pipe?
I can't get the sound file to run.
It takes a little while to come up like a minute or so.
Yes the O2 sensor is hooked up.
I had a gutted cat on there with some chambered eliminators from Mid America but I didn't like the sound but it is almost the same sound with this cat and no mufflers.
