I just picked up my D44 and I am trying to determine what year it came from. I have searched every where but no info. There are two numbers the top one is 43115 and the bottom is 14105120. Is there some where I can look up what year this came out of?

As a starting point, what ratio is it? (assuming stock gears) Also, what size are the holes where the camber brackets bolt on?

The gear is 3.45 and the holes are 0.50". Also, how many teeth should be on the ring and pinion. I would like to validate it is the correct ratio before I install it.

There should also be another number, starting with a "6". Like "605491 X ". Is there a specific reason you need to know the year? The ratio is determined by dividing the number of ring gear teeth by the number of pinion teeth. The tooth counts should be stamped on each of the gears, such as 38 11 (38 tooth ring gear and an 11 tooth pinion).

C4Techie - I will try to find the other number. The numbers I posted were located on the housing of the carrier/batwing.

Snakecharmer383 - PM sent.

To get the best result remove the batwing and the numbers for the ratio will be stamped on the gear as mentioned above divide one into the other, I also believe there will be a date stamp as well, do not qoute me on that.

The other number should be stamped into the bottom of the carrier assembly. There should be a GM number like the one you provided, a date, and either the ratio or the tooth counts of the ring gear and the pinion. Only trust the ratio numbers if you have good reason to believe that the ratio has never been changed.

Cool...... thanks.

I ordered a complete bushing kit yesterday from www.p-s-t.com. I decided to go with those because they are polygraphite. My hope is to cut down on squeeks. http://www.p-s-t.com/gm/gmvet.html

Did any of severe-1s numbers match up with what you have?

I confirmed it is a D44 with 3.45s. I would like to know what year it came of just because. The numbers on the ring gear are 9 2190 Dana D 43626 P86142 38 11.

The numbers on the ring gear don't identify a year. I susprct it is 1992 or later. As you can see in the pictures, the date is the bottom line of the numbers stamped into the carrier.
