Default 700R4 Temp sensor

I would like to add a temperature sensor to my 89 corvette with a
700R4 transmission. I was told I could put it in the pressure port. Will that work? I checked and the sensor will screw in there, but it looks like the fluid would not be flowing in that port. So maybe the actual temp of the oil will not be accurate there. Any one done this before? Do I have to put the sensor in the transmission cooler lines?

Thanks
Richard

There are a lot of ways to do this. I just finished on mine. I installed mine on the drivers side forward part of the pan. I picked up a drain plug kit, but left out the drain plug and screw the temp. pick up in there. I can unhook the sensor and turn it out, as a drain plug to. Match up the location well, there isn't a lot of room.

That sounds like a better idea then splicing into the cooler lines... I will give that a thought.
