Cheap, easy horsepower always sounds appealing to me, so I went to the PCMforless site.
The dyno result section looked good, especially the one for the LT4 (Camaro); nice horsepower gain there.
So, wondering how this power gain was achieved, I went to the FAQ's and got this: What can you do for my car?

For your GM vehicle we can:
Change the fan turn on temperatures for a 160° thermostat.
Program the transmission to perform similar to a shift kit (1994 and newer). and delete the dreaded Torque Management
Power program the car for use with premium octane gasoline.
Remove the top speed limiter.
Correct the speedometer and transmission for gear and tire changes.
Correct for the use of a larger throttle body.
Change idle settings and restore drivability with cam installs.
Correct for larger injectors.
Correct for larger displacement (383, 396, etc....).
Improve mileage especially on the 99 and newer trucks.
And more! Just ask if you want something done that isn't listed.
I'm still wondering how that stock LT4 Camaro got the extra 23hp....
Can anyone enlighten this clueless Vette owner?
I bought the Hypertech, and it is junk...car ran rough, shifted rough, with no noticeable gains at all....I took it out and returned it to stock chip. Much better...I would strongly advise against it...
Read my post for my "seat of the pants" impression of the chip upgrade.
This - for a bone-stock 1990.
NO - I don't do dyno, or have any real interest in seeing actual horsepower improvements. Maybe someday, when I do heads/cam/headers/intake/etc.
Side note: Again, I have no connections to PCMforLess, Alvin, etc.
They just did tremendous work for me. Reasonable price. Quick turn-around. No BS.
My 1990 is my daily driver car. I've had NO PROBLEMS at all since the install. For what it's worth, this car has 145K miles on the clock, and uses NO oil. It gives me about 17mpg around town, and 25+ on the highway.
