Default New rims question?

I am wondering why new vette rims dont bolt right up to an 86. Is it that the tire rubs or is it the lug pattern and/or hub depth? If it is the hub, how hard would it be to put newer style hubs on, if even possible?
thanks,
tyler

They do bolt up, but have way more offset. You need adapters to space the wheel back out to be flush with the fender or it will look goofy (and may rub at full lock.)

These are 17x8.5" C5 wheels with a 1.25" adapter.

yah but I have heard horror stories of these adaptors taking away from the strength and busted while getting into it. I am running a 450 hp engine with even more torque, I dont want to mess something up. have they made them better or do they still have this possible problem?

If you don't want to "mess something up" and are worried about using adapters, then you may want to use a wheel made specifically for the '86 C4.
They are out there.
