Default Rechroming rims

I currently have the zr1 style rims chromed on my car now. However the chrome is getting bad and I would like to get them REchromed. I got these at Carlisle in 93-94? Is there anywhere on the EAST coast that is good? I don't want to send them to the west coast and pay all that shipping cost. I also don't want to do any type of exchange.

One other thing I want is that the whole entire rim be chromed (backside also) not just how it is now (front). I hate looking into the wheels (specially at shows) and seeing that dull finish that is now actually flaking away. I want the whole rim done and I want you to be blinded when you look at them in the sun!!

Any help or info. on companies would be great!!

Default Chroming wheels

You will do better if you buy new wheels "NOT CHROMED" and have them plated by a "Quality" chrome shop. I doubt you'll find a half dozen people in the country that will/can strip and re-plate. It's an environmental issue as well as monetary. You will also have the opportunity to specify the finish you want. Be prepared to pay! The production plating you see today will seldom last the "implied" warranty. A complete wheel including the barrel with first class chrome "expensive"!

I agree with WVZR1 it will cost more than to buy chrome new wheels. Infact u can sell ur's for cheap may be 200-300 and than buy a new set for 500 bucks. Call TomZ wheels i think u cant beat tomz wheels prices he is lot cheaper than AFS and same quality.

Snakecharmer: i have few Q's for ya, what exhaust u have header back and what size) plus is ur auto or 6 speed, if auto than TC u got?. i have pretty much same mods as ur's but i ran best 12.321 at 110 with 1.74 60' time. lso what rear gears?

i do have Drag radials along with Skinnies on front and car weigh 3100 without me. would u pm me in case if i did not show up here. Also if auto than what rpm u shifting gears, i did at 5200 rpm but still no improvement. This coming weekend iam gonna take it to track fri, sat and sun 3 days straight might be i will improve. appreciate for providing info. sami.

Back two years ago, I've used these guys with great results, however not the same finish. http://www.wheelcollision.com/

Mine WAS chrome and were 'curbed' to death, not to mention major peeling problems all over, being that they were 5 years old in NJ weather. Anyway, sent them in to be totally stripped and smoothed out, then basecoat and painted to late model Corvette silver. Looks really good. These guys even put my kudos on their site, click on the 'Order-Ship' link and see.

Comp: If you want to see pics of the wheels they are on my site, link at the bottom of my sig.

Sami85L98: pm sent

thanks for the input guys, I'm going to have to think about this more and check out the sites listed. I didn't really think the stripping would be involved but I guess it is from what I recently heard.

Has anyone seen rims chromed on the back part?? How did it look? Is this unrealistic to find/get?
