This 86 has been stored for three years, has been started ok on a regular
basis up till now,has fresh fuel, cranks ok,splutters once or twice for a couple of seconds but will not start. Spark plugs look ok and are wet with gas after cranking. checked one plug during cranking and spark is present.
Strong odor of fuel present around engine after ten or fifteen seconds of cranking.Tried checking fault codes with an Autoray analyzer but only got
" vehicle not responding " message. This scanner works on my 91 Chevy
truck and did work for the Vette in the past. Tried the A-B diagnostic
terminal jumper and got the code 12 flashed but no other codes as far as I could tell. Only other thing that I observed, last fall when the vehicle was
running, it ran rough and I noticed small pieces of dark colored fiber coming out of the tailpipe, thought it might be a mouse that had crawlled on up in there, or could it be muffler or cat converter stuff ?
Any ideas or information will be greatly appreciated. thanks, Jimscot
How about the intake - could there be something blocking your air intake, maybe your filters are all clogged.
did you check your fuel pressure, that could give you similar symptoms

I have changed the fuel filter under the chassis and the air filter.
I will check the fuel pressure now, thanks,
TB is throttle body. If you spray starting fluid in the throttle body while someone cranks the engine and it starts, then there is an obvious fuel problem.
Tried shooting starting fluid in TB while cranking engine and had same result, that is, engine attemps to start for approximately ten seconds of cranking, then does not fire again while cranking until I shut off ignition and wait a few minutes. could this be caused by a defective ECM or ignition module ? I checked the fuel pressure and had 27 psi.
Thanks for any ideas . Jimscot
