thumping sound (revised)
checked tires for bubbles and roundness, but for no apparent reason I have a loud thumping sound and vibration above 50 mph. could universals be bad :flag

sure it's not your heartbeat? 
seriously, can you hear if the thumping is once/twice per tire rev? or dependent on engine speed? where do you "feel" it happening?

Here's a thought. Are the tires worn down to the warning treads? My ancient Cutlas used to do that till I found out the tire was worn down. At a glance I didn't notice how worn they were, but close up you could tell.

On my checks on the problem of thumping, took left front wheel off and found that the caliper was locked to the rotor, could not turn tire by hand, Had to open bleed valve to release. Does this indicate a bad caliper or bad brake hose. :flag
