I bought A set off E-bay, that look just like the ones pictured, with magnifing lens in center and the small street glow bulbs. The reflector seems A poor design.I got much better lighting from the stock halogen sealed beams
Those look very similar to the APC diamond cut lenses I bought from PepBoys. No modifications were needed on mine. I paid about $40 for them. The clear lenses made a big difference in increasing the light. The key is to get a good bulb to go with them. When they get dusty or dirty they perform more like the stock sealed lights. Mine also seem a good bit lighter than the sealed beams.

There is a lot of junk out there, when it comes to lighting.
Seems like the cooler it is, the worse it performs.
I'd stick to proven components; Hella, Cibie, Bosch, Marchal...for housings; and Osram-Sylvania, Philips-Narva, and Tungsram-GE for bulbs. (No Blue or super-white, either......)
I've played with the "diamond-cut", the cheap No-Names, and the blue bulbs...I've come back to simple, pricey-but-effective Hella and Osram or Tungsram.

I agree, you get what you pay for. I have the same set up as above, maybe one bulb strength stronger, 130/100 ??. Anyway, my 66 yr old eyes are now pretty satisfied. The Hella setup is way better but not quite as good as the Xenon HID in my new daily driver.
No, changing the headlights in a Corvette isn't that hard. As for the light kits, you may want to verify that they will pass inspection. I didn't have a problem with mine but a friend put in an aftermarket kit and the person doing the inspecting said it had to have a DOT certification stamp. Although I do like the idea of the projector lights coupled with a set of the McCullough HID conversion kits. And btw, I have a set of similar to those and the light is way better than before. The only thing I would recommend is getting a better set of H4s than what came with the kit.
I have a 96', and purchased them as my second or third set of lights.
I'm on my 5th set now and they are Sylvania's Silverstar "Cool Blue".
I drive seven days a week, mostly at dark and need as much light as I can get.
Before the "Cool Blues", I had a set of H-4's. Both were ok.

are the H4s a big difference then stock? and is it easy to take the bulb out?

Huge difference. And as for ease of replacement, very. With a Phillips screwdriver and a small socket (don't remember which off the top of my head), you're done with both of them in about twenty minutes. Go read this thread:
I bought similar lights to these from Autozone and they are made from a company from "Adjure" But as far as light bulbs go I went a slightly different route.

Whats the boxes attached to the lights for? I know HID lights have something similar.
