On my '88 there are two Torx bolts on the intake manifold and two on the exhaust manifold that hold the EGR tube.
Some PB Blaster soaking, a light rap or two with a small hammer and firm pressure as you turn the wrench are all that is needed to loosen them the first time.
I have a set of polished aluminum covers that Im still trying to put on my car but Im confused about the EGR pipe how does it come off ?
On the pass side, the hardest thing to loosen is the nut holding the tube to the exhaust manifold. You need a quality "crows foot" that fits around most of the nut. The next hardest is the bolt that holds the tube at the rear of the head. Just loosen it as the bracket is slotted and will slide off. The last job is the 2 bolts that hold the tube to the intake manifold. I used 1/4" drive sockets to get at them. Be careful with the gasket at the manifold. When reinstalling the tube try your best not to cross thread the nut going into the exhaust manifold.
Will these covers fit under the bracket that holds the A/C and alternator? You may have to do a little fabricating. Wouldn't it be nice if someone made a mold out of the magnesium covers and made polished aluminum covers?
