Default 93 383 stroker??

I was thinking about getting my engine rebuilt and a 383 stroker kit installed. Would I need to modify anything other than the engine and maybe dyno tune the computer if I go this route?? Would I run into any known problems? also what is the usual HP and TOR numbers when a rebuild is done with the 383 stroker?

The only mod to the engine is relieving the block to allow connecting rod clearance, but it is minimal. Reprogramming the computer is always reccommended to compliment the new motor. Go for it, you'll love it. It will be a totally different car.

It seems like 383 cubic inches is one of the most popular cubic inches to to a rebuild. Good luck with it.

See my signature.. I have a 1993 and did nothing but stroke it (with a slightly higher compression) and a bigger cam.. everything else is basically stock.. I burned my own chip because I was having some difficultly with the mail order tunes (and generally grew impatient).

These numbers are on a Mustang Dyno.. you can expect another 10%-15% higher on a DynoJet.. Also numbers are RWHP.. not flywheel..

As I look back at it the tuning was a pain.. but worth it.. Also, I would certainly use a bigger cam if I were to do it again.. with the cam I have it idles like a station wagon (basically stock).. I think I would go with the comp cams cam for the LT1 that is one size bigger than mine.. total engine ran about $2400.00 .. I have 30k on it with no issues.. (173k on the chassis)

I would atleast port the heads and go with a cam matching the airflow. Also need to open up the exhaust while your at it with headers short or long depending on your budget and where you live. This should be good for atleast 400 hp, depending on head and cam choice, maybe more.

383BluByU, I have the same thing and my numbers were about the same at 280/314 on a Mustang Dyno. If I keep the car I am too am going with a bigger cam. Mine idles like stock and with these smaller cams I don't think the engine is anywhere near its full potential even with the stock heads.

I'm thinking of going the LT4 heads/intake route with some 1.6 RR and the next bigger GM cam (846 or something.. not the Hotcam the other one).. that'll open it up...

It still had enough grunt to pull my buddies A4 C5... But I think the TC had alot to do with that!!
