Default C4 Frame material?

Anyone happen to know specifically what alloy & gauge of material the C4 frame is made of?

It would be interesting to know, from all the C4s I've seen here in the North East it seems to be of very good quality.

My copy of "Corvette From the Inside" is in the POD as we're moving.

Check it out at the Library or perhaps one of the members can look it up. I'm quite sure it's in there. BTW, the metal is galvanized, also.

14 Gauge (0.080", 2mm) hot-dipped galvanized sheet steel. zinc-galvanized coating.

actually it's a mix

the rear most cross member is made from aluminum.

I think I'm going to try to track down a copy of "The Newest Corvette"...looks like some there's some good stuff there.

The post by JoBy inspired me to pick up a copy of "The newest Corette". It arrived today from a used book seller. I highly recommend it - It's got lots of pictures of C4 development and lots of information abotu every aspect of the cars design. Cool book!
