Help, oh great vette wizards.
When I start the car (86 auto, 102k miles) from a cold start, like first thing in the morning, it idles OK but when you accelerate it stumbles a little. If you race it in neutral it back fires winding down.
When it warms up it runs great. From a warm start it runs great.
Recent replacements:
plugs, rotor, cap, module, wires, MAF, O2 sensor, harmonic balancer.
Base timing just set at 6 deg BTDC (after new harmonic balancer install).
Any ideas on what's wrong? "Smells" very rich when open loop.
Re: Cold start symptoms - whats with this? (Mike263)
Check your old plug threads for rust or have your coolant checked for the presence of exhaust gas. If you have either, coolant is getting into the combustion chamber either from the intake manifold or the head gasket. It doesn't take much and as your engine heats up and expands, everything seals back up so to speak.
