My '89 came with FX3 shocks in horrible condition, and rather than overhaul things or buy new shocks I simply disconnected the FX3 and put in normal shocks (but took off and kept the actuators, which seem fine). Quite simply I found the FX3 prices to be, well, gross, and all things considered it seemed wise to limit potential mechanical complications where possible. Also, no one seemed to be particularly wild about the system, so..... Anyhow, I was reading in another thread that people often have Bilstein recondition the shocks with different valving, and my question is what changes to the standard valving do people generally make? I am curious to try the system out, and at some point may want to tinker with it in the future.
Maybe Ill change my opinion after I get mine back, but I always thought the FX3 system would be cool until I had one.
Truth is I hate it.
The faster you go the ride firms up so its really never the same all the time which is what Im used to.
Id keep the originals in a box, save your money and enjoy your car. When you sell it, throw the box of shocks in the trunk for the new buyer and let it be his expense.
Some like the fancy gadgets, Im from the less is more school.

Thanks---yeah, I know what you mean about less is more, and the cost and the fact that people never seemed particularly wild about the system to begin with concerned me, although I was curious about it. Actually, I am glad that it can so easily be disconnected.
