Help with CEL
The code is P1416, secondary air injection (AIR) system Bank 2. I was going 41 mph, coolant was at 205, and maf was at .986 lb/min.
Does anyone know what this code means? I cleared it and will see if it will come back tommorow.
If anyone is in the NW NJ (Clinton) area and wants theres scanned, or for me to clear the code Ill do it for free.

There are TWO of them......one on each side of the engine.
I think P1416 is for the passenger side one.
I think it's going to be the one on the passenger side if I remember correctly.... sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.
The code may dissapear for quite some time and then return. As it gets worse it will appear more frequently.
There is danger of damaging your AIR pump so you may just want to go ahead and change it valve. They are cheap and easy to change.
Look for a black, round 'thingy' about three inches long about big around as a silver dollar with a metal hose coming into one end and a rubber 3/4" hose on the other end. It should be around the exhaust manifold but I can't say absolutely where it is on your Vette... mine is an L98 so probably in a different spot.
Buy one at your favorite auto parts store. Put it on and then clear the codes.
That one won't come back.
Cost? About $10.88 plus tax IIRC.
Good luck with it.
Oh.. to answer your question.... There are TWO AIR injection points (valves) on your car. Air is injected into the exhaust manifolds to reduce emissions. Your LT1 has an AIR injection electric pump that is commanded to run by the PCM. When it runs, it blows air thru two 'one way' check valves into the exhaust manifolds. The valves only pass air in one direction so that the hot gasses from the exhaust don't feed back thru the rubber lines and on to the pump. That protects the pump and the rest of the system from being damaged by hot exhaust gasses.
Those valves get clogged by exhaust byproducts, carbon, ect and then they won't seal properly. The valve is a simple, round, pressure loaded 'diaphram' type device and when 'junk' gets on the face of the disc inside the valve, it will fail to seal.
That makes it a 2 way 'pass' device and the PCM will report it bad. The other failure mode is for the valve to fail to open or 'stick' in the closed position. The PCM will report that as bad also.
The PCM runs the AIR pump after the engine is started and is starting to warm up. It doesn't run the system right away so it's normal for the SYS light to be out for awhile after you start the car and then it illuminates.
That's about all I recall off the top of my head..........

I then came online to find your post
Does anyone have a picture of where the "bank 2" valve is?
I will check the drivers side this weekend and see if its bad or not.
