i just got a 90 6 speed car to use for track duty. opnce i got it home and started searching on here i found several mods and wonder what hp/tq numbers i should be at. it has a superchip, higher ratio rocker arms, bbk throttle body, dyno max exhaust, air pump eliminator and k&n filter. if it was a c6 i would know what i got but i am new to the l98/ c4 world. thanks
I am not familiar with"superchips" but without a tune specific to the data your car provides the gains may not be as much (or nor at all)as one might predict. I think typically a 15 hp for 1.6 rockers, maybe 5-10hp for the cat back, TB bigger than stock might be a small gain (probably not unless other mods have been done and again depending on the tune) and AIR removal gains no HP.
how do tyhey tune for these cars...like i said new to this one. all my others have been flashed not a "chip"
Most tuners will either tune the car on a dyno or by mail order through data provided by the customer. To provide data to a tuner you will need a lap top, software (such as TTS Datamaster Tuner Pro etc.) and a cable to interface the laptop with the cars ECM via the ALDL. The 90-91 are MAP cars and use the 727 ECM which uses a chip, usually refered to as burning, more importantly it will be removed (easy to do) from the ECM and sent along with the datalogs to the tuner. Hope this helps
