I'm getting a coolant leak out of my intake manifold (stock) on the passenger side. It leaks in a few places down the side of the manifold. The ends are sealed up tight. I replaced the gaskets with the stock ones from the dealership. I put RTV around the coolant passages on the gaskets (both sides) prior to bolting it down.
As suggested by the book, I tightened it down to 35 psi. Leaked. I tightened it down to 45 psi. Leaked. :mad
I'm going to take it back off. Everything was clean prior to putting the gaskets one...no residue.
What gaskets should I use? Is there something better than the stock ones that I should use?
Dave, run a file across the intake mating surface look for un-eveness if its off a little, just file it down till you have a flat surface. around here Pepboy's stocks them, autozone does not.
Good luck
Dave the fel-pro gaskets can be bought with or without the passage blocked. I used the fel-pro blue with the blocked of passage and have had no problem but like i posted earlier be sure the manifold is not warped. If you can't find them at a local parts house call summit they have them. :flag
