Default I have confused myself.

Hi all. I have a project in the works, and I have read an old email, found something new, and confused myself. Here's what I have.

1973 Gen1 SBC 400 (+.020)
14102193 '87+ style heads (Steam holes drilled)
1992 Camaro Serpentine System (Reverse flow water pump)
LT1 Intake and EFI

I had all this from almost two years ago, and it'll all come together nicely. I was reading through some old emails, and found one that puzzled me a little.

It said the reverse flow pump will not work on heads that were not designed for reverse flow.

I guess my question is, are the '87+ style heads reverse flow?

The serp systems run the water pump in the opposite direction. As long as your pump matches the belt system, you are fine.

Yeah that part I got...I just wanted to make sure that the heads and block combo wouldn't create a heating issue.

It won't be a problem. Your set up is not reversing coolant flow, just water pump direction. You are good to go. The 400 should run well. I have a similar combo in the works. I am gonna top the block off with the new afr eliminator heads.

Thanks. Here's what she looked like before I took her back down again for some chrome alternator cases.

Actually I could but I don't have a very big inverter in the car. I have a small one for emergencies, and that's it.

Mainly it's for the stereo, fans, aux lights, EFI.

The image is a bit dark but from what I can see, the bracketry
looks nicely done.

Are the alternators mounted at stock height? I wondered about
hood clearance.

Here's another pic. I did modify the A/C bracket by cutting off most of the mass of the lower half of the bracket. I left the leg there for lower support, but I cut away a lot of the bracket where the alt mounts. The alt actually fit very well in that pocket after I cut away some of the material, and drilled a new hole for the second mounting bolt.

Actually, here are two pics. One of the serp system when I had the A/C and smog deletes were still installed.

Just from measuring it will fit under an L88 hood. This setup would not have fit under my stock '77 hood.

I remembered after posting that the target is a C3. I wasn't
sure whether that platform offered more clearance but it sounds
like you've got it covered.

Very nicely done. With the RPM the MiniRam will be capable of, I
expect that sturdy support will help prevent the belt from causing
trouble. And my personal preference always favours an OEM
appearance.

Thanks for sharing.

No problem. Thanks for the compliments. I cannot wait to finish the manifold, and get the harness modified for my car. That's a roller motor too. I retrofitted it for Vortec rollers using the dog bones from an LT1.
