Started doing a rune up on my 92 today.
Fought with spark plug #8.
Changed the fuel filter, followed all
directions.Got soaked with fuel,the inlet
fuel line would not stop leaking out
fuel, more than a gallon leaked out.
Did all procedures for changing fuel filter.
Is there a check valve that may have
went bad?
Wiped down the optispark with a dry
rag. Noticed the opti cap was bright yellow,
but did not see any emblems on it.
Is that possibly a accel cap?
Last but not least I had my stopping
point when I was attempting to change
The ignition coil that went bad. Got
the top bolts out and had enough when
I could not even budge the botom bolt
for the power steering container so I
could pull the coil out. Any tips?
1992 vette is by far the most difficult
car I have ever done a tune up on.
I have a 92 and the power steering line from the pump to the reservoir has been leaking for years so I've been stripping the front of the engine down to fix the leak and to clean, that bolt for the p/s bracket has alot of torque on it for some reason, I used a breaker bar on it and it loosend up. My opti spark cap is yellow also I believe that is a stock type cap. There are no check valves back to the tank I think you were in a siphon condition. Remember you dig Corvettes and like to work on them!
I concur... my stock cap is a yellowish color... looks kinda like ballistics gel. Plug #8 is much easier to get to if you remove the inner fender skirts and use a swivel and some extensions.

Try removing the gas cap next time, and have the new filter ready to toss on as soon as the old one is off. Plug the line with your finger during the swap.
A tip I use is, when you disconnect the fuel filter, immediately, put a hose on the fuel line and the other end of the hose in the container I use to change the oil. Very little spilled using the above method.
The above is used after you relieve the pressure by the schrader valve
release and to loosen the fuel cap.
