Got the 85 project Vette inspected today. It failed because the horn button isn't attached. Anyone know how to get the horn butrton on an 85 to stick to the steering wheel?
The PO of my car had drilled a couple of small holes in the plastic mounting plate and into the wheel under the leather cap and riveted it to the steering wheel. How he got the leather cap over the mounting plate must have been hard when the plate was already riveted to the wheel, but it worked.
Of course, I found this when I got in there to remove the wheel and had to grinf off the rivet heads with a dremel.
Anyone? Do you have to take the steering wheel off to install the backing plate?
Nope. I am a little confused about your mounting problem though. The only thing I can come up with is rotating the plate, getting the tabs to align and clip into recesses in the wheel at different locations. Without going out to look at my spare wheel, thats the best I can come up with.
