Default New Throttle Body

What kind of HP or performance gain should I expect from changing my stock 48mm throttle body to a after market 52mm? What are some of your experiences with changing them out?

If your car is more or less stock, I would not do the throttle body. You do not need it. There are a lot of other more beneficial things to do at this time. What they are depends on what you are looking to do with your car. What are your goals?

Im gonna chime in here too.... How bout my setup with a 58? Im currently running stock and figure if I do it Ill go with a 58 1000cfm... Any thoughts here on how good the stock throttle body really is...

As for your question I would imagine that although the 48 stock might be sufficient a 52 would seem very logical with the newer LT1 or Lt4 intakes... They seem to flow alot more air, thus would benefit from the additional air through the TB

the 52mm flows 750cfm, anything over that (58) is unrealistic since youll almost never run 1000 cfm. I would wait until youve cut your lid (your mods doesnt say) or installed an intake like the SLP cold air induction, then think about maybe a superram or porting your current intake manifold. When you do either of those, you could put the 52mm on. But youll benefit more for now by putting a new exhaust system on, Borla or Power Effects is what i recommend.

Is there somewhere I can buy an aftermarket air filter lid that is already cut out? I would like to keep my stock cover in one piece.

Agreed. Why not invest in a cam or a ported lower intake base? Allow that sucker to breathe! BTW, welcome to the coolest forum around! Sweet looking ride ya got there. Lowered is it?

I suppose she is lowered. I noticed a lot of people talking about lowering their Vette on the forum so I got interested in lowering mine. Then I noticed that she was already pretty dang low. I didn't do the lowering if it is in fact lowered, possibly the previous owner did it. What do you all think...is she lowered?

If you're going to do additional mods, do the 52mm TB when you port the plenum. Don't expect big gains till you realy improve air flow through the motor.

It definitely looks lowered. Check the rear spring bolts to see if stock or aftermarket (cotter pins?).
