my experience is the best hooking tire is the et street radial.hands down.it is also the worst for wear.if it is track only i would go m/t.if you use it on the street or drive to and from the track i would consider the bfg.
Nitto's have gotten fairly good responses for street & strip... I'm definately looking into those as replacements
Nitto's are better if you spend more time on the street. BFG's are the best so far, but I haven't tried the M/T or Hoosier yet, but the folks I know who have love them.
The Hoosier is basically a slick tire with radial construction, the M/T is closer to the BFG as far as tread goes. I think the Hoosier has two lines in the tread and that's it.

I vote for BFG with M/T right on it's heels.
I don't have much experience with old BFG tires but do you drag guys think 7 year old BFGs are garbage as far as hooking up? Mine sat in the garage for those # of years on their sides not being used?? Replace them or do you think they'd still hook?
I know for street driving I wouldn't drive a 5 year old street tire as from personal experience they don't hook for sht anymore.
I have used the BFG's for years with good results. Every now and then, track conditions prevented me from hooking up. I have a frsh set of MT ET Radials mounted up and ready for opening day at the strip. I should have some first hand feedback on April 7.

I was very pleased with the M/T's, they are gooey. I got about 100 passes out of them so far, and it looks like another 25 left in em. I wouldn't recommend them for street driving other than getting to the track. They have a 255 and a 275 that will work for you.
I love how people can compare tires they've never run on.
What 60ft times are you getting with the different drag radials? Last Sunday I had 1.9's and 1.8's all day with my Sumitomo street tires. I was impressed compared to the street tires I used in the past. The Sumitomos are cheap tires with soft rubber. Just wondering how much of an improvement DR's may be.

You can't really compare between tracks or between manual vs auto. Out here it's essentially a parking lot course with poor track prep. Most of the 300hp cars are running 2.0+ on drag radials here, and 2.3-2.4 on street tires.
What kind of tire pressure do you use with the M.T.'s? How long of a burnout do you need(with or without water) ?
They are so soft I only spin them to dry the water off because I cant drive around the water.
As a previous poster said , never missed hooking up with the MT's,
low 1.7's all day with a 100K ZZ4 cammed L98 A4
I finally put the tires on the car today and took it out to see how they hook. WOW HOLY HOOK I had NO wheelspin at all, and when I tried to load the converter the front tires just slid foward. With my street tires(275/40/17) I could not use 1st gear without just spinning the tires(Auto). I should be going to the track this Friday to see what it runs and see what kind of 60ft I get.

There's a ECS Corvette Challenge event on Saturday at Raceway Park (Etown). You could check it out and try the tires there
