i ran into a problem the other day and i just cant figure out whats wrong well here it is. the other day i was on my way to my friends house and was there for about an hour and i came out to start my car and it wouldnt start and wouldnt even crank over at first i thought it was my batterey so i disconnected it and got it tested and it didnt end up being the batterey so i was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them i suspect its my starter but was wonderin if the starter relay would cause this problem as well alot cheaper to replace. thanks for yall help. my lights still come on when i put the keyes in the start pos. when my batterey is on frst time this had happened to me.
Sounds like the typical VATS issues. First, clean the pellet on the key real good and try again. If you have a spare key try that as well. If neither works then you will likely be troubleshooting it.
next time that happens take the key out, then put it back in.. tap the key a few times and wait 4 min. before tring to restart.. if it restarts than the vats in acting up and probably time for a new ignition cyl. if you try to start before the 4 min is up it wont.. and then the timer is reset.. you must wait the full4 min!

As stated, VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System). Your key has a little puck imbedded in it. When you insert the key the car checks the resistance caused by the puck/resistor, if its not right the start sequence won't be initiated. Apparently common as wear and tear on the key and cylinder start building up.

This happened to me. It would leave me stranded for an hour or so at a time. I ended up having to replace the ignition cylinder. Hasn't happened since.
