Ok, smack me in the head. I was looking for a C3 and bought a '94 to go along with my '84. It's a 6 speed with asdjustable suspension and all the options. Anyway on to my question. When accelerating in 1st or second, about half throttle, it seems that around 3,000 rpm it feels like the motor is being retarded, slowing down rather than a smoothe acceleration. Does anyone have any ideas?
It is engaged automatically with the ignition, but can be turned off by an instrument panel switch (on mine its above the headlight dial). Corvette's ASR uses engine spark retard, throttle close down, and brake intervention to limit wheel spin when accelerating.
If I turn it off and go WOT from a roling start it will spin the tires around 3000RPM. I also have had it engange on wet roads and the tires do spin a little bit before the system engages. The reason why I say that is if it kicks it its pretty noticable and the ASR light will come up in the idiot light cluster above the radio. To me it does not sound like your problem, when you get on it are the wheels spinning when you notice the "retard"?.
