Default Need Help with a Cam setup

I am looking at getting a cam setup for my stock 93 LT1. I was looking into the LT4 hotcam setup but I have been told that a Comp Cam setup would be better. I guess I needs some opinions and help with buying a complete setup for my car. I am running stock heads with hooker shorties and a flowmaster exhaust. Thanks for your help!

you really need to have your heads ported , cam alone wont do much.

I would think a Comp 503 would work very well in an LT1.

The Hot cam is a relative bargain, especially if you go with the kit with rockers and springs. I considered this cam along with the Gm 846, before deciding upon the 503.

The Hot cam appears to me to be a bit of a design compromise intended to work with the factory LT4 springs and rockers. The exhaust lift is somewhat unnaturally limited compared with most other cams of similar duration to fit the 0.525" lift limit of the springs.

Lots of cams should provide good results depending upon what you're looking for and are willing to live with as far as tuning and driveablity go.

If you have a manual transmission you have alot more choices , automatic's you do not want to go crazy on duration or it makes for no fun driving and lazy low end performance.

I installed the "Hot Cam" with springs and Crane 1.6 roller rockers in my stock 92 LT1 / 6speed , and noticed a nice difference in performance.

just my .02

I do like "Comp Cams" I have it in my race car

Theres a guy on thirdgen.org named 'sleepy_z' with a 93/94 camaro. I think he did headers, and a comp cc306 cam, and one other thing (like gears or something) and the car went over a second quicker in the 1/4.
