This is my first post and to be honest I am a little intimidated by all the seasoned vetts out there. I have an 88' that I have been rebuilding since I returned from Iraq in '04. I left it sitting there, and unfortunately my wife didn't understand the importance of turning it over every couple of months. I spun a bearing as soon as I got back and rebuilt the engine. Ever since the rebuild I have had serious idle and braking problems. The car battery will die if I let it sit overnight and other normal problems. I have been able to read about the battery problem and how to go about fixing it, but the idle problem baffles me. The brakes are rock hard and i have to stand on them to make the car stop and now the idle and brakes have combined to make my life even more interesting. When start the car, it will idle great for a few minutes, but i can kinda tell it's a weak tentative idle. It will usually shut off after that and then I'll have to start it again. After I get it idling again, I'll hit the brake to get it into gear and the car will die. I wonder if it is just the battery. If there are answers on the forum that i just haven't seen yet, let me know and I will be more than happy to go to them first and not waste your time. check the break booster. sounds like a vac leak.
