When I bought my 94 LT1 6 speed, the fans were hot wired on all the time. I ran a switch up to the dash to control them as I wish. On mine, the relays are hanging on the driver's side of the radiator shroud. Splice into the green wire and dark blue wire, run them thru a switch, then ground the line. Splice, DO NOT CUT, the green and blue wires. My fans work normal when my switch is off and they both run all the time when on.

225* is not too hot. The main fan should come on @226* anyway.

I agree. In the summer with the A/C on in 98 degree heat in traffic I have seen 242deg...THAT IS HOT!!!!! I found tons of leaves in my radiator shroud as the problem.
i have the same "problem" on my 94 automatic...my dad and i hooked up the scanner and found that the temperature guage in the dash actually read about 15 degrees hotter than the true temperature. after reading the manual it appears that the fans were going on at the correct temps. even though this is the case, i WOULD feel much better if the car ran a little cooler.
anyone try a 160 deg thermostat? is it any better?

The low temp thermostats do not really do anything to help you. With an LT motor you NEED to keep temps in the 185 to 205 range for a nice, complete burn. Check the sticky at top of forum page on performance items that work....maybe FAQ.
