I have Flowmaster exhaust but it isnt loun enough. Is it okay to just take it off and replace with pipes or will it not pass inspection?also will it make my car run worse?
U r perfect candidate for muff elims, check corvettecentralexhaust.com or just buy the tips and let exhaust shop install pipes welded to tips. Now that sounds great, i have mine muff elims with no cats what do u think?,
What does the rest of your exhaust system consist of? Do you have the full cat-back or just mufflers? Add LT headers and hi-flo cats and that thing will growl.
toss them! 2 yrs. down the road there will be holes rotting out of them. terrible quality. i took mine off and did muff. eliminators and its amazing
I just want to point out that I've been using flowmasters for years and have never had holes rotting out of them after only two years. I have flowmasters on my truck, which is my daily driver and is always parked outside, right now and I've had them on there since 2000. Other than some slight surface rust, there isn't any rust that is causing problems with the structural integrity. Now that being said, I think the sound a flowmaster creates doesn't fit with a corvette and is better suited for a truck.

High flow cats sound pretty good too.......and are a little more environmentally friendly........no one ever had to turn their hearing aid up to hear me coming...

Mine are 6 years old and like new. At least if they rusted out, I would have an excuse to get something new.
I took mine off after a couple of years because the grandsons didn't sound lound enough. The Flowmasters were still in great shape. I passed them onto another forum member. I didn't go with eliminators but bought some Borla Stingers from another forum member. These puppys are loud. Grandma's lost little hearing so she didn't notice they were a lot louder. The for sale section of the forum is a great place to keep good parts in circulation by trading them around while you are zeroing in on just what mods you want to stay with.
