Default Lug Wrench set up

I recently purchased a lug wrench for my 87 vert. It came with brackets to put behind the seat on the floor. I need a picture on how it is set up because I tried installing it before and for the life of me couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. If someone could post a pic I would greatly appreciate it!

The lug wrench for my 87 coupe is in the passernger sider rear storage compartment. It sits on side wall of the compartment next to the right side wheel.

I don't think the lug wrench went behind the driver's seat until 91-92 or so. My 92 vert had the wrench behind the driver's seat.

The reason I bought this upgrade was because I didn't have a wrench to begin with in my vert The verts had the lung wrench attached to the underside of the hood against the side of the passenger wheel skirt. It was attached with wing nuts. I was told that the newer vettes had the lug wrenches behind the seat on the floor. That is where I am putting mine now because my wheel skirts must have been swapped out before I purchased the car. However I was told the upgrade would work with the brackets and wing nuts behind the seat. I just need a pic of someone who has theirs set up.

I did that. To me it was a no brainer but I got two different size brackets. One was smaller than the other since the ends of the lug wrench differ in size. I proceeded as you said but to me it seems to be a sloppy fit and doesn't hold it well enough.

i dont have a camera. how about posting a picture of how you have it mounted and lets see how we can help. i forgot. 88 on up has longer bolts on rear track. try tightening rear track bolts a little, or puting rubber under brackets, or just bend brackets.

Im aware that the 88 has the longer bolts and was also told it will still work with the shorter bolts. My problem is probably with the brackets. I will take a pic tmw and see what you all come up with.

Thanks for the picture! I see in your pic that the lug wrench is not completely flush on one side upon laying down. Its at an angle. Is that the proper way to do it? The reason I ask is because I was trying to make it sit flush whereas the brackets would lift at a angle.

Here's a pic. of the lug wrench and it's orientation from the owners
manual.

There is no way the larger bracket can clamp over the wrench as it's show in the owners manual.

Ok well I was able to put the bracket over the wrench as shown in the owners manual but the smaller bracket is not going on like I want it to. Any ideas for a fix on this?

Default Lug wrench

Get a couple of really fat rubber bands and put them around the lug wrench at the points the clamps meet the wrench.
Shuts the rattles right up and allows the clamps to tighten well.
