Engine/trans install query
I have the hood off my '85 (no room to come in from the side) and I have the L98 engine rebuilt.
I am going to pull the 4+3 trans for a replacement.
Has anyone installed the engine, bell housing, transmission & o/d as a unit?

Yes i am going to be doing same on my 1986, however i am ditching 4+3 and putting a vert zf6 in. I am thinking the overdrive unit at the end of tranny will present a problem of center of gravity.

just put my l98 in w/trans and it is so much fun. depends on if you a leveler on your hoist and if you using cherry picker or overhead hoist. done it both way and best thing to do is take it slow, no top end except intake(no throtlle body or runners) balancer pully off gives you an extra inch bu pain to put on in the car. i have the luxery of being able to use a lift to raise the car for the torque tube and doing everything underneath, but i have done it on the floor also and it just takes time and some patience. good luck
