Recently I hear a spinning/clicking sound when I shut the car off for 3-4 seconds, only occasionally though. Comes from the engine bay, lights are not up/on.
I checked the fans, but they seem ok and when I had them on and turned off the car, I didn't hear anything. Nothing looks wrong that I can see.
Not unusual at all. Sounds like the engine cooling fan just 'spinning down' once the power is turned off to it. It would only happen if the temp was hi ehough to have it running, or ac on, when you parked it.
That would be why you don't always hear it.
Yep, I went out last night to find that only 1 light came up!
I don't understand why it was making the motor run when the headlights were never on?
I believe this is the same headlight I replaced the bushings in a year or more ago. at that time it would turn partially or at least try to turn. It doesn't try to turn at all now, and no sound. Does this sound like the motor is gone? How do I check?
Where are the relays located for the motor? The light is coming on, but I would think the power for the motor is seperate?
Look in the left front fenderwell. It is a module, not a relay, and located close to the frame down low in front of the left front tire. Four wire connector on each side of it and the module is about 1 1/2 thick and about 4" square. Before you go there disconnect the wires at the motor and check for current. Should be just two wires and polarity reverses according to going up or down. Hope this helps.
Took it apart, and this is strange, but the hollow bushing I put in 2 years ago were all flatended out! There were .324" size, I was thinking they were supposed to be .25? I'm going to Lowes to see if they have sold bushings. Maybe I will get lucky and this was just binding the motor and maybe it's not burnt out.
I opened up the motor and it looked fine, but I don't really know what to look for...
I replaced the bushings and the motor now runs, but only on the driver side, it will not actuate on the passenger side, but the light does come on?! My friend said there was no voltage on the passenger side for the motor wires, but we didn't know where else to look or how to check the module.
Where is the relay for the passenger side headlight motor?
