"self contained" abs system wiring question
I'm in the process of converting my 1994 zf-6 into a track car. Most of the o.e. is stripped away and will be converted to a painless system for the "engine" circuits. I'd like to keep my ABS functioning. About the only things that run to "the back" on the painless system is the fuel pump circuit.
There appear to be 3 sets of wires going to "the back". Some in the a-pillar (probably just interior lights), and then two plugs (one big black one with many pin outs) and a smaller white one (a few pin outs) coming up the right hand inner frame rail. These probably run back to the fuel pump, abs computer, rear lights (brake, tail, licence plate, signals, back up), hatch popper, fuel sender...and what else I don't know.
The wheel speed sensors and vss are two questionable areas. Although they are installed, I do not know where they "enter" the wiring system. Do the wheel speed sensors enter directly into the abs system computer behind the drivers seat? Does the VSS or any other accellerometers come into play at all in the abs system? Does anyone know how what the pin outs are that go "forward"? In general, any help I can get to get the abs system "self contained" is helpful.

I think you going to be better off keeping the stock harness and eliminating what you don't want.
Do you have the factory manual?
If not, get one and hit the wiring diagrams in the back.
110%I'm in the exact same boat. I too am converting a 94 into a track only car and want to keep the ABS. I haven't got to the ABS system yet, but so far the wiring diagrams in the factory manuals have been priceless.
