I just picked up the parts today to do mine.. I have an 89 and the cylinder in my car is so worn the key is really hard to line up right to turn forward and start the car.. it turns back to acc. with no issue, just turning it forward requires a lot of wiggling and fiddling..

Ecklers was out of stock on the manual transmission replacement cylinder so I went to my local Chevy dealer..

Delco part number is D1453C
GM part number is 26033387

The part was $106.. You'll also need a new blank VATS key.. they charged me $15 for the new key with cutting included, so $121 in total.

They will have to read your old keys diode to get you the right blank, there are 15 different resistances.. so you have a number 1 key, or a number 7 key etc..

The new cylinder comes with a brass key that is cut for the cylinder, but will not start the car (as it has no diode).. they use that brass key to cut your new VATS key blank..

There is a write up on the actual procedure somewhere on this site.. I KNEW I should have bookmarked it when I saw it. It had pictures of the column after the wheel is off.. and a description of the process..and now I can't find it. I'll keep looking and post a link when I come up with it..
