Since you have everything torn apart, why don't ya go for the stealth radar detector and hardwire a power lead down the a-pillar so you can't see the cord?

You're going to have the best of both worlds.
'90 is the best year because it's got the best exterior and the best interior.
Now you'll have the best of both worlds, too.

Take some ibuprofen before you start, you'll be less sore after you do your manouvers installing your new interior.
Just replacing my clutch master was an upside down pain in the back, and fingers, and that's nothing compared to your project.
I've got a white '89, too.

Jeff, when you drop the header you'll find a source of switched power with a plug & socket. You can just leave a little pig tail on the radar detector's power cord and wire it into that supply. Mount the detector just under the header and above the mirror and it's nearly invisible.
