Car-X quoted $130. Another shop quoted first $175 to $225. When I laughed and told him about Car-X he came down to $100 plus tax.
Another guy told me it was illegal and he would not do it. I assumed he was not familiar with Corvettes and dropped the issue.
If I do this, I want a quality job. The tail pipes to be supported, the length correct so the tips come out behind the car, not under it.
So, my questions are A: Is $100 too much? B: Is there really an improvement in sound? (obviously it will be louder, but that doesn't mean better).
I've heard alot of clips, and they sound good, but that's on my computer, not my car. I have never seen a post where someone said they wished they hadn't done it. I plan to keep the mufflers just in case.
BTW This is the last time I will discuss this, I promise! But I just want an idea of what to expect.

However, be aware there will be the dreaded "drone" issue at certain rpm's.
At a nice steady cruise down the interstate, it's not bad. One person's level of tolerance for drone is quite different from another's though, so your mileage may vary
That being said, I love the way mine sounds!
The sound? Well I kind of like it. It is very rumbly grumbly at idle. The exhaust cracks and pops at deceleration. It can be loud on acceleration. You will attract attention I will not lie. I have not experienced the "dreaded drone" too much. There are points, but they are brief. A simple shift to sixth at 75 on the highway and it's gone.
I really don't know about automatics. I probably wouldn't do it. I just don't think I could control the rpm's enough to prevent drone.
This is a mod for the true hot rodder. If you like the robust American Muscle hot rod sound, this is definitely for you. If you like the stealth cruiser with a softer tone, go with a magna flow or such.
