Anyone else ever have a not-strong but not-faint smell of gasoline in their car when you are accelerating rapidly, and then need to let off the gas or brake quickly?
A couple times getting on to the highway, I'm winding out to 4000 rpms+ in let's say 3rd gear, and then hit traffic so I just drop off the gas pedal... occasionally a distinct smell of gasoline comes in the car... my windows are usually open, so it could be coming in from there...
I would get this resolved as soon as possible. You should not be wiffing any gas fumes from inside the cockpit. I would check the FI seals, quick connect connectors to fuel rail, fuel filter connections and exhaust connections. If you get enough fuel vapor trapped under your hood, then all you need is a spark to ignite it!!! Worst case scenario of course.....
No it's not normal and never take a chance with fuel odor, risk of fire is too high. If you have changed the filter recently look there first, otherwise inspect the fuel rail for leaks at the regulator and injectors.
