Default 96 LT-1 Tach

I have a no spark condition. I was following a flow chart and one of the steps are to-- Disconnect the tachometer. My question is -- Where do you disconnect the Tach? Second question is -- Would I damage something by not disconnecting the tach when I'm metering the ignition module for volts? Or maybe this is so the electrical voltage will not flow through the path to the tach. When I was checking for AC voltage at the B terminal of the module, I didnot get any voltage but I was suppose to have disconnected the Tach. The last time my car ran I noticed the Tach was not working. Could I have a problem with the crank sensor and this is why the coil will not spark and also why the Tach does not work ? I guess I'm confussed on whether a bad crank sensor will stop the coil from firing??? I do have 12.3 volts at terminal A and 12.3 volts at terminal D on ignition module with key on. I also have a good ground with key off at terminal C. These terminal checks were done with connector unpluged from the ignition module, ignition coil connector pluged in and the secondary wire from coil unpluged from the coil.
