Default 4L80 Conversion from 4L60.

I was reading someone here had done one, and to be honest I really dont want to rebuild another 4L60 if I dont have to. But Raptor has a
4L80 adapter set up, kit, complete etc.
Is it all that difficult to put one in if you have and adapter and a non electronic 4L80E. ALso, you can get deeper first gears too, 2.75 vs 2.48.
And, would it be worth it. I think in the long run it would be.
But, if anyone has done one, share the wealth, time and pics if you have them.

Steve, actually I think our first gear is a 3.06. That being said, I had heard the main reason a 350 transmission makes a faster drag car is the ratios are closer together and you dont have as much rpm drop between shifts.
They make a stand alone computer for us without a computer controlled car to control the transmission but I heard it is over $1000.00
My transmission buddy told me it could be set up with a manual valve body to get around the computer.
I look forward to what others say about this subject.

The gears I was referring to were the optional gears available for the 4L80, as it is a 2.48 first gear and you can upgrade to the 2.75.

If I choose to do it, it will be a slow process, as I will not be in a hurry. The reason, besides reliability, of thinking this route is yesterday while half throttling the Vette onto the highway it was slipping pretty good locking into 4th, or so it felt. I was at about 81 mph, which I know isnt lock up, but it felt like it was slipping
Other wise the tranny feels fine, but...
I have a feeling I will be keeping this baby for the a long time coming, and the Opti (DELTEQ already on), Tranny and Extreme duty timing(EWP and regular timing chain) chain issues will be resolved if I keep her.
This 4L80 just seems right, and wether a Turbo 400 with Gear Vendors is cheaper or whatever, having a bulletproof transmission is a must if I keep her with the 396 in front of it.
