Default Lifting a '96

Hi All:

I noticed the lift (jacking) edge of my '96 is higher than the floor pan.
In other words, the floor pan protrudes down lower than the jacking edges of the car.

This is no problem when you jack up the car with the car jack that came with the car. But if I take it in for service and they use a typical blade type lift and if they slide the blades even at the jacking points under the car, the blade will dent the floor pans. C5s have jacking pucks (which I made for an '02 that I owned) is there anything similar for the C4?

Thanks,

Trebor

As long as the person operating the hoist is even reasonably competent there is no problem, the lift pads (what you called blades?) can be turned to lift under the jacking point without touching the floor pan quite easily.

That depends on the lift. On my nussbaum lift it's no problem because the lift pads are screwed up high. On my rotary, it's almost impssible without contacting the rocker panel because the lift pads only have two positions, up (too high to fit under), or down.

No doubt there are differences depending on hoist manufacturer and model, my lift is a Rotary and it works fine.
