1.> Reverse is acting funny. It feels like the clutch is not engaging completely but only in reverse. It also makes a noise like something rubbing (sounds kindof like when you run over a plastic milk jug and are dragging it along under the car). With left foot completely off of the clutch in reverse, the accelerator doesn't seem to move the car very effectively: the motor revs ok, but it doesn't go as quickly as it should and it feels like I'm still holding the clutch in... It's only doing this in reverse. Is this maybe a rear-end problem?
This just became noticable today.

2.> What would cause a 'crunching' feeling in the shifter when releasing the clutch? It's doing this only sometimes. It does not feel like a grinding gear. It's not that strong, but it is audible. It was doing it one day when I was sitting still and I'd release the clutch while in neutral.

3.> If I depress and hold the clutch (regardless of gear) and I'm coasting to a slow/stop, I'll hear a spooling sort of noise and feel a slight vibration from the clutch pedal. This goes away as I slow down.

Bryant, I have a real bad feeling that your direct clutch plates in the OD section are burning past the point of no return. Remember how black the fluid was that came out of the OD? Your direct plates, clutches, and/or spring tension may have worn down to where there isn't enough pressure to prevent slipping. It goes from bad to worse. The good news is that my OD section was the Guinea pig and I'll definately know what I'm doing if we have to rebuild yours.

But would that cause that kind of symptom in only reverse?
If it indeed is the OD, then well at least it's a problem with a part that's already potentially broke...

You still have your copy of the Helms tranny section? Read through the troubleshooting section. You're not grinding going into reverse. If you were grinding, then I might say it could be the manual section. I'm pretty confident that it's not the manual (I'm not just saying that cause I'm the one who rebuilt it :D ) because everything looked pretty hunky dory. The reverse main gear had a few teeth that were chipped, but it otherwise looked good. As far as the vibration goes........if we have to rebuild the OD, get a new roller pilot bearing, we'll do that this time around.
