Hey All,
My signal switch seems to have broken off inside my steering column. I am concerned, about self-replacement because it is a '91, and has a drivers side airbag. Can someone give me some insight on the procedure? Thanks...
Re: Signal Light Switch Replacement (Mrcorvette91)
I replaced the switch in my 92 a few months ago. To avoid sending any type of current to the airbag you need to disconnect the battery, then pull the airbag fuse, then disconnect the bright yellow airbag circuit connector at the base of the steering column. You work your way from the battery to the airbag. You will need a spring compression tool and a steering wheel puller. If you’ve pulled a few steering wheels before you should be ok. If not, you may want to read up on it first. Just in case a stray spark finds its way to the bag, you need to try and keep you face from being directly in front of it.
