Well if you all had your choice what long tube headers do you all like. I can start with scratch here.. Just purchased a 1988 35th anniversary addition manual 4+3. owner before me had a twin turbo set up just starting, not fininshed and looked shoddy to say the least.. so I let him have turbos. How would you all build the exhaust system. Im thinking long tube headers to a Y pipe and then to a Borla system w/ no cats? Letmenow what you all think about the header, would like Stainless..
Hi.
I have an 85 4+3. I bought the TPIS ceramic coated headers and I am very satisfied with them. The heat in the engine room is low from the headers due to the coating. TPIS has also build them so you can use all the stock equipment (alternator etc)with them without doing anything. It is an easy bolt on. There is a link at TPIS site where you can look at the installation description.
As Vader said do the ceramic coated once instead of the stainless as there will be much less heat. TPIS has also talked about making stainless headers and if they now do have them ceramic coated and you have headers for the rest of your life. I have had mine for four years now and they looks very nice. There are everything including the airsystem, EGR output and readythreaded for oxygen sensor. The headers are made for the L98 and changing sparkplugs is a snap. They are also made so no interference for the starter. They are a bit expencivebut good.
Good luck
I did my whole car over, so I couldn't buy a nice set of ceramics (had to trim fat $$$ where I could or the car would have never been on the road)....I went with Hedman long tubes on the cheap...got rid of all smog/cats...mated them up to Borlas. I'm pleased.

There are a couple of options on www.summitracing.com
Ceramic coating will be cooler and 1 5/8" is big enough. Buy the best you can afford and do it once.
I have the Hedman ceramic coated elite headers. They are pretty well made and I am happy with the fit. For the money (~$375) they were a great purchase.

If you like stainless check out Stainless Works, a forum vendor. I have their LT1 headers on my car and they're excellent. Good fit, good plug access and overall quality second to none. There's a link to the left of the page under headers. But call them and tell them Corvette Kid sent you. They're a small company and very nice folks. 1-800-878-3635
