I was wondering if it is possible to use a T-56 6-speed trans to convert my car to a manual. I heard that this transmission may not fit correctly, or that the shifter is in the wrong place??? Have any of you done this conversion before? I want to use the T56 because ZF 6 speeds go for more than i can afford and I think I found a T56 that may be available from a Camaro. Also, what do you think about the gears, I have the 3.07 rear end...do u think that woudl work well with this transmission, does anybody know the gear ratios of this trans. Thanks.
The BIG problem is making the tranny fit your C4 'torque arm' bracket. It's the large 'C' shaped bracket that connects the rear of the tranny to the diff.
Conquer this problem, and the rest are pretty simple to solve. Good luck! :flag
"Thank you for your interest in our Tremec, GM 3550 and TKO 5
speed high performance transmission that bolt directly to your
stock bell housing and use stock linkage and clutch assembly (26
spline only). The length of our GM Tremec is the same as your 4+3.
You will need to replace the yoke, speedo drive and make a mount
for your torque arm to our Tremec. I'm not sure where your shifter
comes up. Please call me at 781-647-1530 and we can go over all of
the details.

The T56 is a great gear box. I had one for about a year and was going to install in my 85. All the details are do-able, except for the torque arm hook up. There is no good way to do this and no easy way to make a bracket. I wish we could get the T56 with an adapter for the C-4, Sid,
