Default Plugs and wires...

I was searching around looking to get some spark plugs and wires. Any suggestions as to what brands I should be looking at? What type are you guys using? FYI... I have a 94 6 speed vette.

I used NGK plugs and the ACCEL Extreme 9000 Ferro-Spiral spark plug wire set.

Side question, did you guys with the 8mm wires have to drill out the retainers?

I am running Moroso Blue Max 8mm spiral core wires and AC Rapidfire #14 plugs in my '95. Taylor Spiro Pro wires are good, as is MSD.

8.5mm wires may not fit in th stock wire looms. 8mm is a real tight fit. Stock wires are 7mm.

i too am looking to replace my wires for my '94. Actually, the previous owner must have placed one of the wires on the wrong side of the oil dipstick, causing the wire to melt on the exhaust manifold.......is it a big job to replace the wires? should I, as an amatuer, have a shop do the job? or is this a simple job?

Easy job if you have the right tools. (racheting wrench and socket) Search the threads and you'll see some tips/tricks.

My Taylor's fit the stock looms fine.

It was a pain routing the wires to look decent. I put mine back to how it was stock and it took a long time.

LT1/LT4: passenger side is easy, driver side is not so easy. I once posted after changing the wires on my '95. Here's a link, consider it one way to accomplish the job and surely not the only way:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1042652

P.S. After having changed the wires on mine, I would STRONGLY recommend snapping a few photos of how the stock wires are routed/arranged in the looms BEFORE you begin the job, or at least study the stock wire routing for a few minutes before you remove them. It will help to have a reference when routing the new wires through the looms.

I just put in red Taylor Thundervolt 8.2mm wires. They fit fine into the stock looms. Had to be custom made which took a couple of weeks but the suppliers let me get em straight from the makers.
Stock ACDelco platinum plugs from NAPA. Heard a couple of scare stories lately so will change these out in a couple of thousand miles (after a dyno!)

I found a bunch of info from doing a search on this very popular topic

Any idea what the NGK plug# is for the L-98 and a good place to pick them up at?

Isn't the TR55 the lower heat rating plug than stock?

I recommend OEM wires. They're very high quality, and are the correct length and diameter for a hassle-free installation.

Be well,
