" bfg kd 315 mm tires "
i have 315 x35x17" Summitomo tires on my vette !
i heard that the summitomo tires are a thinner/skinier tread pattern than other brands!
and they wont look as wide as other brand tires in the same width/series/diameter!
appraently the summitomos although quite cheap to buy have a rounder wall edge!
any way i am looking at to buy a set of " bfgoodrich KD tires ,315x35x17 " @ $ 260.00 each!
they ahve a nice agreesive tread pattern that goes rite to the edge and has a lovely square edge to them to give a wider look to them!
has any one tried these tires at all please?
how have they handled?
have they worn well?
do you have any close up rear end pictures of them fitted to the car at all please?
cheers and thanks

Don't expect long life from the BFG KD tread; I think that the tread depth is much less than other tires in the same size. The KD comes in a left side and a right side tire so if you do go with them, make sure the tire store gets that part right!!
There is a tradeoff between grip and mileage in the ultra high performance types of tires. As far as the overall width of the tread, that can vary from brand to brand. With a tire that has a section width approaching 12-13 inches anyway, a difference of an inch should not be noticable.
Unfortunately, you have probably found that there are not too many supplies making a 315/35-17 tire anymore (I think that if you do a search on the Tire Rack website, you will only find 4 or 5 brands in that particular size.
A friend has a 90 ZR-1 with Sumitomo's on them and they really did not last that long. He doesn't drive it hard but after 40K miles, the tires were down to about 25% tread depth.
IMHO, you would probably be better off with the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 for overall performance and better trtead life. They are quieter on the road too. Tire Rack shows them for only $10 more than the KD.
how are ya!
cool man , thank you for the cool tips and your help mate!
the main reason i like the bfg kd tire is as it has a nice square wide stance that i am after!!!
unless you know of any other square side wall wide tread looking tire may be mate please?
do you think the good year f1 gs-d3 has a nice square stance to it?
